Soccer League for Reconciliation - Buye (Burundi) - ÁFRICA
El reverendo Dominique Ciza sueña con ver evangelizadas y reconciliadas a todas las comunidades étnicas de la diócesis de Buye (Burundi). Para comenzar a trabajar en este sueño, fundó una liga de fútbol de tres equipos, cada uno con una composición étnica diferente (hutu, tutsi y batwa). Convocó a nueve evangelistas de estos grupos y los capacitó para trabajar con sus equipos en el establecimiento de una misión de reconciliación y evangelización. Los evangelistas abrazaron el mensaje de que vivir junto con personas de diferentes orígenes crea una vida armoniosa y beneficiosa, como lo pretendía nuestro Creador, y se comprometieron a compartir ese mensaje.
Los participantes recibieron el encargo del Obispo Diocesano, el Reverendo Sixbert Macumi, de ir a predicar las Buenas Nuevas de Cristo a sus equipos de fútbol, compañeros de tribu y vecinos. También les encargó hablar con sus compañeros de tribu sobre higiene, nutrición y desarrollo, y especialmente sobre los protocolos COVID-19.
Sabiendo que el fútbol reúne comunidades y que este contexto sería bueno para compartir su mensaje, los equipos jugaron una serie de partidos a finales de 2021 y celebraron el Año Nuevo en comunidad. Antes y después de cada partido, los evangelistas predicaron la Palabra de Dios y un mensaje de reconciliación. La gente estaba entusiasmada, como se ve en las fotos a continuación.
El reverendo Ciza comparte que cree que es el miedo lo que celebra a las personas y que es posible reunir a personas de diferentes orígenes. Cree que la misión de la Iglesia es cruzar fronteras y llegar a los marginados.
The Rev. Dominique Ciza dreams of seeing all ethnic communities within the Diocese of Buye (Burundi) evangelized and reconciled. To begin work on this dream, he founded a soccer league of three teams, each with a different ethnic composition (Hutu, Tutsi and Batwa). He convened nine evangelists from these groups and trained them to work with their teams in establishing a mission of reconciliation and evangelism. The evangelists embraced the message that living together with people from different backgrounds creates a harmonious and beneficial life, as intended by our Creator, and they committed to sharing that message.
The participants were commissioned by the Diocesan Bishop, the Right Reverend Sixbert Macumi, to go and preach the Good News of Christ to their soccer teams, tribemates, and neighbors. He also charged them to speak to their tribemates on hygiene, nutrition, and development, and and especially on COVID-19 protocols.
Knowing that soccer gathers communities, and that this context would work well for sharing their message, the teams played a series of games around the end of 2021 and celebrated New Years in community. Before and after each game, evangelists preached the Word of God, and a message of reconciliation. People were enthusiastic, as seen in the photos below.
The Rev. Ciza shares that he believes that it is fear that celebrates people, and that gathering people from different backgrounds is possible. He believes that the Church’s mission is to cross borders and reach the marginalized.
